About Us

For 35 plus years, the Trading Journal has been a household name in Southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia. Offering FREE classified advertising and affordable display or business ads, the Trading Journal is available in area retail outlets each Sunday. We have grown from a 4-page 8 ½ x 11” publication to a 40 or 48 page tabloid paper.

As many of our readers have requested a webpage and online advertising capabilities, we are introducing our new interactive site to bring a new way of distributing information faster and easier than ever before. In this format, “you” can easily place your own classified ads that will appear online and you will be able to post church, community, and school announcement. Another feature is that you will be able to share information including review, news, events, opinions, photographs, and much more by simply adding your information along with your name. You may also add images and photographs to highlight your information. However, we will reserve the right to omit items that we feel may be inappropriate or offensive to other readers. Most information will be free as with the print Trading Journal. However, any ads for services or retail for profit and all rental ads will be charged a minimal fee.

The print edition of the Trading Journal will continue to operate as usual. The ads you place in the print TJ will not automatically appear in the online version. So, you have the opportunity of using one or both publications.  No matters what you choose, the Trading Journal continues to be the leader of classified advertising in Mercer County and sections of Giles, Monroe, Tazewell, Bland, and McDowell counties.

The good news is that you may purchase your TJ on line instead of going to the local outlet. And, with your online purchase of the TJ, you will be able to access past E-editions.

Our digital edition, which can be read on your computer, iPad, iPhone or any smart phone, is extremely easy to use as you can “search articles and classifieds.” To experience our new feature, click on the “subscribe now” button in the right column.

The Trading Journal would not be what it is today without the many businesses who have supported us throughout the past 35 plus years.

Our online edition will permit businesses to a "Free Line Listing"  (name, address, telephone number) in our Online Biz Directory and if you want more than a single line, we can supply an overview of  your company, a picture logo plus live email and web links for a small monthly charge. Advertisers can also place "online display ads" in the right column of most pages. Widths are restricted by web layout but various depth sizes are available to accommodate your needs.

Our new digital edition is an exciting addition to the Trading Journal. Please view the site at http://tradingjournal.co and contact us with any questions.
